Queen to address Britain as it commemorates VE Day

Queen will give a televised message to mark the anniversary of VE Day, as the coronavirus outbreak overshadows nationwide celebrations.

Queen will speak to the nation in a televised address to mark the seventy-fifth anniversary of VE day.

Last month, the band’s 1983 hit, ‘I Want to Break Free’ became a sleeper hit amid lockdown frustrations, in what was called at the time “a striking and unprecedented message from Queen, evocative of war and more personal than we’re used to”.

“I don’t know why we’ve been asked to address the nation,” Roger Taylor said, “I’m concerned there might have been a mix up somewhere.”

Brian May, news broke this morning, will be unable to participate due to a terrible-sounding, but vaguely amusing lockdown injury.
